MySoftCatalog Editor's Review

Do you have at home a huge collection of CD's DVD's and you don't know what they consist of? You should use then a catalog software. The first solution can be Where Is It?which is a standard in this field of work. But another solution can be MySoftCatalog, a program that makes mirrors of any drives and CD's.

You will be surprised that it is free, without any commercials or adwares and is very little (1.40 MB). You don't need to install it, just copy the files into your PC and start the application.

The software has a two window interface. On the left you will see the title of the mirror and on the right the files mirrored. Before doing anything you should create a new data base or open one already created. Only after this you may scan the drive. The scanning process is very fast and this is shown by the counter on the left bottom of the screen.

If you wish to export the files especially for printing, the software can create a HTML file with the mirror. By creating this you can select different filters for displaying the exact files from the whole mirror. For example if you have a data disc, you might want to print only the mp3 files. You have to add the extension as the filter, and the HTML file will be created only with this files.

If you have used an older version of the program, the mirrors can be converted to be displayed by the new version.

Pluses: free; little; fast;

Drawbacks / flaws: it has multilanguage support, but I saw only the english version; the program crashed when I wanted to display a file from the search menu;

In conclusion: A program that can have a bright future if the producers will work a little more on it.
